Pricing beads
« on: February 13, 2012, 03:45:17 PM »
Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to price the beads/pendants once they have been made.

Thank you.
Lara.

Hi Lara! Pricing your handmade beads etc is alot harder than pricing jewellery for me. I try to work on how much clay I've used & my time. You possibly need to work out how much you want to pay yourself an hour to start with! Maybe other members have better ideas?

Hi Lara

Pricing, from a business point of view, is much the same whatever you are selling. At least, the same basic principles apply. You need to cover ALL your overheads, including labour charges, and add some profit before you can afford to sell to anyone.

I wrote an article looking at the subject in more depth. The article assumes handmade jewellery, but the same principles apply whatever you are making

Emma's article is brill! I was worried with some of the prices that I charge and thought that they may be too high, but people will pay a premium for hand made lovelies (although you may have to batter them a bit will sales chat and general blowing of your own trumpet!).
