How would you use this in a piece?
« on: May 29, 2011, 02:40:46 PM »
I'm currently planning a necklace for my Mum for her birthday.  She loves paisley and I found a beautiful ceramic raku pendant and bought it, along with some other metallic beads in similar colours.

I'm planning to put it together using copper or brass but the pendant shouldn't be strung directly onto metal...so I need help with how I can use it in the piece.  There's a vertical hole either side...the string showed in the pic isn't included.

Any ideas?

It depends on the other beads you've bought. If they are suitable, I would think about using two pieces of fine leather thong threaded as shown in the photo, and then on each side put 3 or 4 beads on the doubled thong, And I'd leave it at that, the pendant is so beautiful, it doesn't need much to show it off. That'swhat I'd do anyway  :)

Yeah, if it were for me then I'd leave it as plain as possible but my mum loves OTT, eccentric jewllery. So I need to string it on either ribbon or cord/leather/suede but then attach it to chain or wire of some sort as the beads aren't big enough to string on the ribbon/cord.

I ended up using wire but wrapping it in sari ribbon, looks really nice. :D

I'd love to see the finished necklace too.  It's a beautiful pendant. Mel
