OK, here (hopefully) are two VERY simple spreadsheets, one for income and one for expenses, just to give you the general idea. Basically, they are just analysed lists, with a running total .

As your business gets bigger you would want to make these more sophisticated. For example these examples don't take into account the value of the stock that you have in hand.

There are also some free/cheap money management software packages that you could use, but to be honest, if you only have a small business, they may be too time consuming

 :)

Those are both excellent - thank you Shirley. I think they will be really useful for people to keep a tab on things. And not in the least bit scary either!

Obviously you can just change the headings or add more to suit your own businesses  :)

Just popped on and found this section thanks Emma!

As you are talking expenses, do you break down your expenses into catergories like  each bead or jumpring ect or do you just put in say how much you spent in totol for those particular supplies?

I will price up all supplies that come in by the bead etc, purely so I can work out the actual costs used in any jewellery piece made. Or glass, clay etc for making of art beads that I sell

But when I am doing my actual accounting - all of those types of materials are lumped together in one category of jewellery/beadking consumables.

Not sure how others do it though
