Beads and jewellery showcase - April 2017
« on: April 07, 2017, 05:33:00 PM »
Well!  I know you'll all be as amazed as I am - I rummaged in a box of UFOs and completed a pendant!

A completed pendant - hundreds left in the boxes! by Carrie Harvey, on Flickr

I drilled four holes in the back and cut two short lengths of rubber cord and glued the ends into the holes to make two loops. Works well and saved having to bake it again!

Nice! Is that what they call BoHo? It looks quite retro '60's style and I think on trend, as they (they?) say.

Goodness - I have no idea what it might be called  ;D  Probably 'random piece of deeply textured, probably scrap clay liberally plastered with Inka Gold', made ages ago during an online free course with Christine Dumont!

Very nice Carrie.  Doesn't it feel great to finish something off?

I'm trying to get organised, I now have two sandwich bags set up, one says "to be sanded" the other "to be drilled".  I am determined to be organised this year x

Ha ha ......my undrilled and/or unsanded stuff just lies around in piles or little pots on two worktables - not that I can see much of the tables ;D

Yes - I do feel rather pleased I can wear that one!

Rolled-flat Sutton Slice....tried using a Skinner Blend but it was difficult to stop the colours getting muddled!  I rather like it anyway!

Ooh, lovely.  Rolling it flat makes it look like the pattern is drawn on.  Very nice. :)

Oh Carrie - those are both stunning!

The first one really calls to me - something about the shape and colour, so harmonious. I think it looks a bit retro too, but in a modern way if that makes any sense at all?

Thank you!
Actually, it would have been far more sensible to just ink up the texture stamp and print the pattern on  ::)

I can't remember now why I decided to roll it flat....

Thank you, Emma!  I made the first piece using a home-made  texture stamp - made from polyclay -  and for some reason I hadn't known what to do with it....it's so odd when something suddenly shouts at you "hang me this way round"  ;D

I disagree. I don't think you would have got quite the same organic wibbly effect if you had :)
