Using embossing powders with poly clay.
« on: November 13, 2016, 11:07:34 PM »
Has anyone used embossing powders (the stuff used for dusting over wet ink or glue on greetings cards and then curing with a heat gun) on poly clay?

If so, have you cured it in the oven with the poly clay, or with a heat gun after the poly clay has been cured?

I've used embossing powders, both over the surface of baked or unbaked clay and also mixed into unbaked clay. In each case, I just melted it in the oven, either when baking the clay itself if used on unbaked clay, or when used over baked clay I just popped the project into a warm oven until the powder was melted. As long as you do not exceed the baking temp for the clay itself, there don't seem to be any issues, the powders melt at quite a low temp
