Not kittens but....
« on: January 24, 2016, 05:19:10 PM »
So I already have two cats and this is not what was planned for this weekend.

But we appear to have acquired two more.  A friend has split up with her partner and thought she could keep the cats in their rental property but the landlord has told her to get rid.

So, welcome Teddi and Ralph (not their full names!).

Teddi is a monster of a cat:

And Ralph is a beauty

I wonder what the two current residents will think of this :(

I doubt it. I have one of those as a neighbour and and the cat part is not what gives her the title ;)

Oh they are both so lovely!

Ralph ( cool name) looks just like a paler version of our Sassy. Same evil little face as my MIL used to say he had.

They are gorgeous! I miss having a cat around. . . Maybe when/if we move. . I'm jealous, though vet bills x 4 would worry me. . .

I love the "evil" expressions :)

Our newest addition the the family would probably be eaten by your family members ;)

The vet near my house has a pet plan type thing where you pay an amount per month - currently £13 a cat - and everything is covered.

There are no excesses or limits like an insurance policy.  The only thing they don't cover but do give a discount for are out of hours visits and lab work if they need to send it away.

So whilst £52 a month isn't to be sneezed at, I don't have to worry about any large unexpected bills.  And as they get older, it becomes worth it's weight in gold.  I reckon the plan has saved me around £3000 for one of my older cats.

One day in.  I'm feeling very guilty about locking them in one room in my house.  The other two cats won't do one so I can at least let them out for 5 minutes.

I'd forgotten how stressful trying to socialise cats can be, and the fear of traumatising them.  There's been a bit of hissing under the door but not much.  I'm trying to scent transfer as much as possible.

The newcomers don't look too bothered though.

I'm about to do scent swapping with a pair of socks.

Hmm, maybe Karolina was right about the crazy bit....
