ultralight and paint
« on: June 19, 2015, 06:43:46 PM »
Hi there,

Can I use oil pastels or paint on Ultralight clay?  I do hope so, but have my doubts!

Thanks, anyone:)

You should be able to paint with acrylics like any other PC but if it looks good i don´t know , never done it :)

Hi there,

Thanks for your response. I searched the Net again, and found a comment from a clayer in Singapore,"Once cool, baked pieces can be polished, sanded, drilled, carved and painted the 100% acrylic paints. If using oil-based or water-based acrylic paints, seal with Sculpey Glaze before painting."

I did a few test pieces, one colouring the bead I made by adding acrylic paint and mixing it through the Ultralight. The result was good enough to make me want to try it on a few more pieces.

BTW, I visited and liked your FB page. You are incredibly talented!

I found some old posts about using chalk on Premo/Fimo, etc, and can recommend chalk pastels. I have a box of Sennelier, which are extra soft, and blend beautifully.

Thank you!
Yes chalks are good, i even sell them in my store. :)

I´m glad you are having sucess with your experiments. But i would rather use compatibel paints than trying to seperate not compatible from the clay with varnish.

Don´t forgget to share.
