Quick Update from Me
« on: May 29, 2015, 12:39:22 PM »
Hi guys - sorry to be so absent still.

Many of you know what we were dealing with in regards to caring for my mother in law, dealing with social services, our impending homelessness etc and so on.

Eventually we did get everyone to see that MIL needed proper nursing care - only after social services kept her at home in her uncomfortable bed for 10 days straight I might add. And she entered full time nursing care just under one month ago. Last week, she suddenly passed away at breakfast time with a pulmonary embolism. To say we were shocked is an understatement, we had only seen her two days before and she was looking better and brighter than we'd seen her for months.

But of course we are now tied up with dealing with all the practical side of her passing too, whilst coming to terms with everything that has happened over the last 6 months.

Long story short - I will be back to normal here soon guys and sorry for abandoning you all to your own devices for so long! It is a credit to the calibre of member we get here that I can even do that - without dramas and problems occuring - and that people are helping out the clayers with questions and generally sharing and enjoying this wonderful hobby virtually via these forum pages. So thank you VERY much - you guys just chilling out here, answering posts, sharing your work, welcoming newcomers = you have taken a weight off my shoulders as I know the forum has been in collective good hands!

Take care my clay-babies and I'll be along soon to scold you all for not sharing enough photos of claymakes, puppies etc....

You do know that failure to disclose kittens and provide photos is a banning offence on this forum in normal circumstances? Luckily I'm feeling forgivey...if you come up with the kitty pics soon that is. ;D

Yup it is very odd, mixed feelings. Even despite all the trouble she caused for us ( some deliberate, some just through circumstances) is was very important to us that she get the right care and we had finally got that for her after a long and difficult battle with social services who just refused to be live how incapable she had become. So we feel very glad about that and we know we did right by her and fought for what she needed.

But the cost to us both was enormous and nearly finished us off in every sense.  So I am so thankful for that stress being over for us. Obviously though I wish our salvation could have come by way of a lottery win or something instead!

Wow, what a sad end for what should have been a success story for you both.

Hope both you and your other half get over the stress of this soon and get back to what passes for normal.

Hugs.

Glad you had a victory, if I can call it that, over social services, but sorry for yours and your husbands loss.
Deep breath, and on into all the probate stuff etc etc. . . Well that's an episode over with and you can now see if you can remember what 'normal' was ;-)

A sad ending for all of you, but what a relief for you two to be free of all the stress and worry.  At least you know you tried your best for her.

Take care!

Thanks guys

Funeral was today. We gave her a good send off although only 3 of her family came plus us and 2 of DHs mates.

Now just need to move my studio and business back into the house now we'll be able to stay there. That will be 3 studio/ business moves over the last 6 months.

Then maybe we can slowly decompress from everything and start to move forward
