Couple of useful tips I have picked up!
« on: January 15, 2015, 10:51:33 AM »
I am probably way late to the party with these  :-\  but thought I would share anyway!

It was said on TV last week about storing clay in plastic boxes and the ones that were safe had the triangle with the No 5 inside stamped on the base. I looked at a few of the lock n lock type ones I had some were ok but most weren't but to my surprise and delight, the small pots and lidded boxes that takeaway comes in are! I now have utilised them to separate my clay out and it can be easily seen - result!

Second tip I picked up somewhere (can't remember where) was to get the ziplock type freezer bags and slit along the side and bottom and open them up to lay rolled clay sheets in. It keeps it from drying out and especially if you have a pattern you like it can be stored until you are ready to use it and again is easy to see :)

Hope these prove useful to others, they certainly have to me. ;D

It may be a little late for some, but there are always people starting out who would appreciate such tips, as well as experienced clayers that may have just been passed by by certain things   :)

Oooh, I like Poundland!  Only just had a new one open near me.  I'd better go back and have another look, what do these "lock n lock" boxes look like by the way?

One's just opened near us as well.....we looked round but the queues were unbelievable  :o  Maybe it'll improve when it's been open a while longer.

They did have a set of small square alphabet rubber stamps - l think alphabet - l bought some at another store but these were slightly different.
