Gotta love Wikipedia:

"The tölt is a four-beat lateral ambling gait mainly found in Icelandic horses. Known for its explosive acceleration and speed, it is also comfortable and ground-covering".

I don't think there is a translation :)

Here is a you tube clip of how it looks.

After about 7 seconds the horse gains speed and you can see the man is not jumping up and down at all.

It looks like a comfortable ride!
Do they naturally have this gait or are they trained?

I´m no expert but i think they have it naturally but as they are all individuals some needs help to use it and others do it all the time by choise.

Here the Icelandic horse is not uncommon and they are known for their strengt and 5 diffrent gaits.

The normal 3 plus 2 more tölt and ...again i dont know but they can use 2 legs on the same side . Google says amble. Don´t know if it correct.

What a wonderful sculp Karolina - you are right to be pleased with him, I love his proud face and you captured the sense of movement perfectly.

I have never heard of these icelandic horses before - that video was fascinating. It might be the only type of horse I could actually stay on!
