Title: February now - what have you been making?
Post by: JonB on February 03, 2016, 02:42:14 PM
I've been making stuff, but I wanted to share my website experiment using Adobe Slate on my iPad. Really fun and intuitive to use. Such a relief after slaving over slow old wordpress online. I just used the default settings and it looks pretty cool I think. What you reckon. I shared it here as it is showing off my poly clay work. . .

I don't think I've seen Slate before.

I have to admit that being a bear of very little brain, the page opened and I didn't really know what to do.  I was looking for a menu or something.  Then I noticed the scrolly bar at the side.

Obviously more tech literate folk will get that straight away :)

Looking good!

That's really good - l like it a lot  8)

The six black tiles are simply stunning....don't think l've seen them before.

One typo...photopolymer..... ;)

Ah yeah, the scrolling thing. If you were on an ipad or phone you would scroll down without even thinking about it I guess. I think it is meant more for mobiles and tablets than desktops but it works well once you get the scrolly thing.
I'll attend to the typo, thanks.

I'm on a tablet and thought the scrolly thing was really cool....but it might be odd on the laptop l suppose.

(Is "cool" too out of date to use now, btw?  ???  ;D)

Really good, like the way you brought text and background together/or not? As I scolled reading the text then went back to the pics, so I saw it twice. (On mobile phone)

Thanks Matt and everybody,
I think it works best on a tablet too, though I don't have a smartphone (I know!)

Carrie, you are so hip to the kids' crazy jive man ;-)

I still say 'wicked', so that nails me to late seventies London talk, so whaddo I know. . .
At least 'phat' seems to have vanished as a term of appreciation. 'Sick' I still hear bandied about, though Royston isn't the hip centre of the world. 'Awesome' is unfortunately here to stay. . . dude, or possibly bruv.

OK, here's some actual stuff i made this week. A sort of modernist abstract vibe, only nice and scruffy as well.

Not entirely sure what to do with them, but I think the small ones might make good stud earrings. . .

Those stamps are so cute - what a great find!

As for what to do with them - make curved pieces to be bracelet focals? Use them to decorate journals?
