Not sure if this is the best place for this to be (mods please feel free to move or tell me where best its placed) Ive been getting festive and today after a bit of thought made a tealight holder in the shape of a christmas tree, the baubles have translucent mixed in so they glow with the candlelight behind. I hope you like it!

And the star is translucent too! I don't care what the mods think, I think it's lovely!
-
I think its lovely too - although I have moved it to the sculpture and modelling section so everyone gets to see it!
I bet it looks lovely with a candle behind it.

Thanks for moving it Emma I wasn't sure exactly where was best! Lol
The star has gold dust on it Sylvia, it's just extra shiny!
-
Wonderful! I love it!!
-
Aw thanks Carrie! I'm amazed how well they've been received, I've had orders for 7 of them so far! I was only experimenting and it seems I've hit on something people are liking a lot lol
-
Abbie,
That's really pretty. Does the candle stay lit inside the tree? You know how flames starve for oxygen.

Hi Boni, the tree is only at the front as a facade. It's open at the back where the space is for the candle to sit, so no problems with it staying lit. x
-
You've definitely hit on a winner - 7 orders will be the tip of the iceberg!
How tall is it, btw?
-
It's just abut 6.5 inches tall, so not too overbearing! I have a mini production line on the go here at the moment in my craft room......was worried at one point I didn't have enough green clay lol
-
Abbie, I love it!!!

Aside from that, it would be dangerous to completely cover a candle with polymer clay - the clay could burn and release toxic fumes. SO candle holders need to be open at the top so heat can escape and the flame must never be allowed to have contact with the clay.

It's bigger than I imagined :) Do you bake them flat?

No they're baked on a curve (on latte mugs!) they stand better that way and don't topple forwards.

Brilliant idea!

It's lovely Abbie no wonder it's been popular. :)

I suddenly have a mini forest on my hands!......

Thanks folks, they've proved to be popular and I've sold quite a few of them!

You have inspired me to make this one.
I have filled the holes with liquid clay and painted them with alcohol markers after baking.
